Configuring Outlook Express

Open the Outlook Express program. You dont need to be online to configure Outlook Express, you do need to be online to use it. After it is open click "Tools" and then "Accounts" just like in the picture.

Select the "Mail" tab. You will see a list of mail accounts. If you dont see a list of accounts then great.

If you already have an account with us you may want to "Remove" it. Otherwise click Add then Mail.

Now type the name you want people to see when they get e-mail from you. If you use "Movie Man" as your Internet alias then you would probably want to put "Movie Man" in this box. Otherwise just use your name.

Next you will type your e-mail address. This normally is your username then the @ sign followed by nanosecond.com. (ex. username@nanosecond.com)

Now its time to type in our server addresses. We use a POP3 server (Post Office Protocol). And we use the same server to send and recieve mail. That server name is mail.nanosecond.com . So you want to put "mail.nanosecond.com" without quotes, both the Incoming mail, and Outgoing mail servers as shown.

Now type in your username and password.

Now its time to enter a friendly name for our server. So you can name it whatever you like. This will not be sent to anyone and only you will be able to see it. I like using "Nanosecond E-Mail"

If you would like Outlook Express to automatically dial us when you open it then you want to choose "Connect using my phone line". If you do not want Outlook Express to automatically dial us, then choose "I will establish my Internet connection manualy". However if you choose the Manual connection Outlook will not be able to connect to us unless you start the connection yourself.

If you chose Connect using my phone line, then you will need to select the Nanosecond connection. If you do not have a connection to us then click here to go to the section that explains how to set one up.

Now click finish and close. Shut down the application and re-start it. Connect to us and then click on the "Send and Receive" button. You should get a new message from us. This message is an automatic message that is sent to every new account.
